The eagle has landed! Summer visited the bathroom on her own power today. Dr. Bahador said, "Never fear, Bahador is here!" He then pulled out the hose in her nose and shortly thereafter the catheter was removed. She did a couple walks around the wing. She cannot be stopped, only contained. By tomorrow the doors will have to be barred and watched like a hawk, she could make a break for it. Well, not so fast. She has improved a lot in the last 2 days but is not on solid food yet, just liquids. Most of them taste really bad even after not eating or drinking for a week. Now that's bad.
She feels much better and is sleeping great. Running a slight temperature but pain is not an issue except for coughing and laughing. She likes to laugh too much to let pain get the upper hand. Let's help her laugh; it has been a very long, laughless week. Perhaps in a few days she will be home.
She thanks everyone for their care and support and looks forward to talking to all.

Yippee! Sounds like "our" Summer is on the road back. So glad to hear she is feeling so much better, and that she got rid of all the tubes. That, in and of itself, will make one feel better.
Tell her Susan (aka "Nurse Ratchett" will be there when she gets home to take over and boss her around a bit (J/K!). I also made some delicious Organic Pineapple Sorbet that should wake up those taste buds when she is ready,....yum! I also know that others are standing buy with amazing healing soup recipes, etc. Just let us know when she's ready for more solid food, and legions of cooks will show up with delicious healthy food.
The fact that she is sleeping well is huge. Sleeping is so healing, and she hasn't had much real sleep for quite awhile.
I think we will all have no trouble laughing together again .... we never did!
Jim, how are YOU doing? You have been the stalwart soldier through all this, and you need to stay strong and healthy, too. Are you managing to get any rest at all? Please let me know if you need a break, or if there is anything I can do to lighten your load.
Love to all
Susan

So wonderful to hear some more progress--and to be able to enjoy humor in this update.
"Only contained," indeed! And laughing again . . .
Thank you once more, Jim, for sharing your energy with us through this blog.
I'm sure many of us look forward to descending--like locusts--on your home soon, trying to be helpful. Save up some of your energy for dealing with that! ;-)
Can't wait to hear Summer is back into the comfort of her own home. Till then, sending my best to you both,
Robin K.

Sweet Dancing Summer Girl,
I'm hearing about your ordeal rather late in the game because I haven't been tapping at Frogs and did not know until yesterday that you're inner strength was being tested in this way.
I've read Jim's account of the journey you've been on. Bless your heart. Of course, knowing you as I do, it is not surprising to read how well you've done with your surgery and the strides you've made - all in record time.
It certainly seems that poor Jim will have quite the job keeping you in check once you're really up and around! And, while I don't know him, I imagine that if he's journeying through life with you, he's up to the task!
I've read all the wonderful comments from your many friends. You are blessed! Along with them, I'm sending my healing energy your way.
I think now that I must find my way back to tap class very quickly to "save" your spot next to me. Of course, we'll all be waiting for you to return so we can hear the beautiful sounds your feet make and enjoy those moments when Sylvania asks you to show the rest of us how it's done! Of course, I will be the happiest when that day comes, because you dance next to me!
With much love,
Linda

Such grate news! Love to hear that you are laughing and have the tubes out. I am glad that you are sleeping well. Resting makes the healing faster.
I love you and just let me know when you feel like having some Persian food.
Can wait to see you dance and teach us Yoga.
Hugs,
Faye

I am so glad to hear Summer is up and about. Tell her we send our love and can't wait to visit her as soon as the green light is turned on for visitors. I have to say I sometimes wish I was bald in the amount of time and money I spend on keeping the gray hair away. Freedom from hair....now that sounds like a real plus in so many ways!

PS
Jim,
Please tell Summer, Pat (an old Spirit Dance client) has sent her an email. Summer hadn't heard from her in a long time, and Pat left me a note last week.
Hope the day goes well.
Love,
AmyJ

Wishing Summer an easy journey on her path to healing and a complete recovery. Do not know her, but have always wanted to take her classes and so occassionally take a look at her website. An inspiring website it is; so Summer be very inspiring too... Summer you will be in my thoughts and prayers and I hope to be able to meet you and participate in your classes in the very near future. Happy healing!
