Summer walked! About 20 feet (like 200 tiny steps) out of her room and then back. Sat for about 90 minutes. Temperature is down. Watching Ellen. Sleeping beauty. The earth must be back in its orbit.
Summer asked for me to be forthcoming on the big picture. She has stage 3C ovarian cancer. The surgery was very successful however this is not the beginning of the end but is rather the end of the beginning. Chemotherapy will begin in a matter of weeks. Six cycles over the course of a year. And, yes, she will lose her beautiful hair. She is in great spirits even with the uphill climb aheah.
She thanks everyone for their support.
Love,
Jim

Summer - Spirit Dance:
Hiking in Torrey Pines yesterday, the trees with their amazing forms, never two the same, danced among the yuccas. There was an amazing quiet, apart from the lizards running into the brush and the birds flying from tree to bush. Reaching the cliff's edge, the deep calm of the ocean, dolphins showing their black glistening backs as they danced and played radiant and free, showers of white bubbles sprayed towards the sky. White foam like ribbons rising and falling.
You were dancing amongst them, your spirit free and warmed by the sun. And all your Spirit Dance friends were happy, and wet with spray from the dolphins.
Love,
Gabrielle
Thank you, Jim, for your update yesterday. Our hearts are sad. We wrap our arms around you both.

Jim,
Summer and I spoke before she went into surgery, as an ovarian cancer survivor your messages have brought me back to the time 4 years ago when I was where Summer is now and I can tell you that life gets so much better after this. Chemo although not pleasant is very doable and from all the messages I have seen and speaking with Summer for a short bit I know that she will be fine. I actually had fun with no hair, can't have any of those bad hair days now can you. I look forward to meeting both of you and to being a support during the chemotherapy process. You will be in the best hands imagineable from an oncologist nurse - Dawn Noakes is sent from heaven and I look forward to seeing her every time I'm there.

I am so glad to hear you are doing better. You have been in our prayers, and I know you will be fine. When I teach my dance classes you are with us in spirit:) Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Jim, thank you very much for the updates - love to both of you, Kirsten
