Summer's Journey

Friday, January 12, 2007

Jim is back, and that is not a good sign. :-( Summer had a setback today when she went to the bathroom at 5:30 am. She noticed "some organ," veins and all, protruding out the front down there. She called Dr. Bahador and he wanted to do an exam first thing. So we were in the hall waiting to get in the office by 8:30. It wasn't what he expected, something he had not seen, a section of the intestines was protruding through an area that had been sutured, somehow breaking through and not through the abdominal wall but down there. Like a hernia except literally insides out--all the way out, a big infection risk.

So, surgery was scheduled for 3:30 pm today and she was admitted to the hospital. She was wheeled into surgery by 3 pm and surgery was expected to take 2 to 2 1/2 hours but he came out at 4:30 and said everything went great. A 1/2 inch hole was triply sewn up including a "tire patch" over the spot. No more leaks in that spot.

Summer was wheeled into her room and was very coherent by 7:30 - 8, I told her what happened and then she went to sleep-- she said she was "tired." (!)

Her hospital stay is expected to be 3 to 4 days and recovery thereafter should be fast.

Just a speed bump.

Jim

Saw your name several times on the "Who you want to send healing energy to" list at Master Gu's event, Summer, so KNOW that some heavy duty positive vibes were heading toward you at the hospital!

It was a lovely day made even more powerful by the incredible feng shui of the Great Hall.

Keep up your incredible strength, Summer. And you too, Jim.
